It goes without saying that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought normal everyday life to a screeching halt both here in the US and overseas. Though most businesses, families, and individuals are following CDC and government guidelines, local and long-distance moves often cannot wait. But how does relocating during the Coronavirus pandemic work. Even more importantly, are moving companies still operating during these times? The following content will go into more detail and explain some different aspects of staying safe and moving during COVID-19.

Are moving companies’ essential businesses?

At this point in time, Three Movers has not noticed any significant shutdowns here in California. Although the closure of non-essential businesses varies by state, it’s possible that things may be different where you live. The bottom line is that moving dates are not flexible for everyone. For instance, if you have to be in another state by a certain date to start a new job or have already sold your home and are waiting for the closing date, you obviously don’t have a choice in the matter.

Rest assured, if you’ve already booked your move and has a scheduled pick-up date for your furniture and belongings, Three Movers will be there to assist in relocating to your destination. Granted, it’s difficult to determine what things will be like in another few months or so. However, if you haven’t heard anything from our company up to this point in time, you can safely assume that we will be assisting you when you’re moving during COVID-19 to your new location.

  • During the 14-day period prior to moving during COVID-19, have you or any of your family members been in contact with others outside the home?
  • Has the city you’re moving to classified moving companies as non-essential businesses or put restrictions on traveling?
  • Have COVID-19 cases high or increasing in the community you’re moving to?
  • How will you be traveling when Three Movers is taking care of your relocation? (If you’re traveling by bus, plane, or train, this will make social distancing impossible)
